Irrigation in the Mountainous Cordilleras

Large ranges of mountains that host grand forests. Sharp ridges on which heart-stopping highway systems were built. Mountain peaks on which picturesque seas of clouds amaze locals and tourists alike.

Such were the usual sights when passing through the challenging roads of the Cordillera, especially along the 150-kilometre stretch of the Halsema Highway, traversing twelve municipalities of Benguet and Mountain Province.

NIA Deputy Administrator Sulaik assures support to Irrigation Projects in CAR



Engr. C’zar Sulaik, National Irrigation Administration (NIA) Deputy Administrator for Engineering and Operations pledged full support of NIA Central Office to the ongoing irrigation projects in the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR).

New heads of Kalinga, Apayao IMOs installed

The two Irrigation Management Offices (IMO) of NIA-Cordillera Administration have new Acting IMO Managers.

Engr. Leonardo Lamangen is now the new head of NIA Kalinga Irrigation Management Office after Engr. Ronilio Cervantes turns over the NIA flag as symbol of leadership in a simple ceremony held at NIA Kalinga IMO grounds, Bulanao, Tabuk City on October 12, 2020.

Before his designation as Acting Division Manager of Kalinga IMO, Engr. Lamangen was the head of Apayao IMO for about three years. Engr. Cervantes will be reassigned to NIA Regional Office.

LGU, NIA officials urge irrigators on irrigation system maintenance

Mankayan, Benguet—Local officials in this municipality commended the Poy-ok Lip-atan Farmers Association for their cooperation in the completion of the Poy-ok Lip-atan Pump Irrigation Project (PIP) and urged them to maintain and strengthen their group as the key stakeholder of the project.
