Lagac-Sta. Maria Irrigators’ Association (IA), Inc. of Brgy. Sta. Maria, Flora, Apayao was awarded as one of the Most Outstanding IAs nationwide during the NIA’s 61st Anniversary culminating program held at the NIA Central Office on June 21, 2024. The award was handed over by NIA and DAR officials and received by the IA officers headed by its President, Petronilo Cortez.

Eight irrigators’ associations (IA) of Benguet represented by their presidents signed marketing agreement with the National Irrigation Administration-CAR represented by Regional Manager Benito Espique, Jr. at the NIA Farmers Training Center in Brgy. Wangal, La Trinidad, Benguet on June 24, 2024.

LA TRINIDAD, BENGUET – Eight irrigators’ associations (IA) of Benguet represented by their presidents signed marketing agreement with the National Irrigation Administration-CAR represented by Regional Manager Benito Espique, Jr. at the NIA Farmers Training Center in Brgy. Wangal earlier today, June 24, 2024.

The NIA will be direct buyers of the IAs’ quality produce such as fruits, vegetable, root crops, and other commodities, which is a Kadiwa sa NIA initiative, but formalized through a marketing agreement with more IA participants.

Balmyrson Valdez, represented by Sr. TESDA Specialist Allen Yadao for trainings of Irrigators’ Associations on May 27, 2024 at the NIA Farmers’ Training Center in Wangal, La Trinidad, Benguet.

Nine irrigators associations (IA) of Apayao and WAAIS area-Cagayan signed the contract with the NIA for the contract farming scheme with 250 hectares contracted area at the EKB gymnasium, Brgy. San Isidro, Luna, Apayao on May 24, 2024.

LUNA, APAYAO - The National Irrigation Administration launched contract farming in the Province of Apayao at the EKB gymnasium, Brgy. San Isidro in this municipality, May 24, 2024.

In this contract farming, production cost is slashed through government support, which includes the distribution of seedlings, fertilizers, and mechanization. This would also enable the government to provide more affordable rice to consumers.

Rice Contract Farming has been considered as one of the potential systems for providing a way for small-scale farmers in the market economy under the context of market liberalization, globalization, and agribusiness.
