LAMUT, IFUGAO - 16 irrigation systems in the Province of Ifugao are now fully turned over to the organized Irrigators’ Associations for operation and maintenance after the ceremonial turnover and acceptance ceremony was held at the NIA-Ifugao Satellite Office in Brgy. Mabatobato during the office's yearend program.
These completed irrigation projects are currently irrigating 804.59 hectares with 637 farmer-beneficiaries.
“Salamat iti project nga inumay da idyay Asipulo. Idi damdamo, talaga nga marigatan kami nga ag-ala ti danum ngem idi inmay en ti kastoy nga project nagapu iti NIA ket nag improve ti irigasyon idyay ayan mi.” [We are thankful for the irrigation project in Asipulo. Before, we struggle with fetching water but now, with this project from NIA, the irrigation at our place imrpved] said Mr. George Binwag, President of the Chigchigangan Farmers and Irrigators Association Inc. to which the Tuul-Bongbong CIS in Asipulo was turned over.
These irrigation systems are Tuul-Bongbong Small Irrigation Project (SIP) in Nungawa, Asipulo; Paj-oy Intag-oy SIP in Mongol, Mayoyao; Mahlong-Kibanawol SIP in Lubo-ong, Hungduan; Numbalicud Bihugong SIP in Poblacion, Hungduan; Payawan Communal Irrigation System (CIS) in Payawan, Lamut; Olilicon CIS in Olilicon, Lagawe; Middle Banao CIS in Cambulo, Banaue; Alimit Culong CIS in Hucab, Kiangan; Mabanutan CIS in Namnama, Alfonso Lista; Caragasan CIS in Caragasan, Alfonso Lista; Mongol CIS in Mongol, Mayoyao; Habbang Ducligan (Ballitang) CIS in Ducligan, Banaue; Kibuhungan CIS in Hapao, Hungduan; Banghalan Small Irrigation System (SIS) in Ahin, Tinoc; Pula Nambaging SIS in Ahin, Tinoc; and Pattulao SIS in Hucab, Kiangan.
The activity was spearheaded by NIA-Ifugao Satellite Office Head Patrick Resurreccion, and presidents and officers of Irrigators’ Associations.
