The Benguet Farmers Federation of Irrigators' Association (BFFIA) and the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology-CAR (Benguet and Baguio City) renewed their marketing agreement at the NIA Cordillera Farmers Training Center in Wangal, La Trinidad, Benguet on October 7, 2022. This signifies that the farmers’ group shall continue the supply vegetable/fruit for the meal requirements of the district jails in Benguet and Baguio City.

NIA, other agricultural agencies plan with UCRIS Irrigators for next cropping season

TABUK CITY, KALINGA – Various agencies led by the National Irrigation Administration met with Irrigators’ Associations (IA) of the Upper Chico River Irrigation System (UCRIS) in a system committee meeting (SMC) to plan for the next cropping season at the Davidson Hotel in Brgy. Bulanao yesterday, September 29, 2022.

With the start of the irrigation water delivery for the next cropping season set on December 1, 2022, the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist (OPAG) and Office for the City Agricultural Services (OFCAS) will also set the schedule of the distribution of seeds and fertilizers. PARACELIS, MOUNTAIN PROVINCE - The National Irrigation Administration has completed the Bue Small Irrigation Project (SIP) which involved the installation of solar-powered pump.

Located in Brgy. Bacarri, the project has a service area of 9 hectares with 17 agrarian reform beneficiaries (ARB) of the Mabato-Wala Irrigators’ Association.

Funded under the Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Project-Irrigation Component (CARP-IC) allocation of three million pesos, the project involved the supply, delivery, and installation of a solar-powered pump with complete accessories, 460 meters of high-density polyethylene (HDPE) pipes, and construction of intake structures, three reservoir tanks and an inverter/generator house.

According to Engr. Liza Challikis, provincial head of the NIA Mountain Province Satellite Office, the project is the first solar-powered pump project in Mountain Province.

Other solar irrigation projects are located in Abra, Kalinga, Apayao, and Benguet.

Irrigators’ groups sign marketing agreement with business owner

FLORA, APAYAO - Irrigators' Associations (IA) of this municipality signed Marketing Agreement with a business establishment that will procure their farm produce on a regular basis.

The Aguda Fruits, Vegetables and Grains Trading of Brgy. Poblacion East through its Owner-Proprietress, Ms. Glen Joyce Mislang, signed the agreement with the presidents of  Malayugan Rice Granary Farmers Irrigators Association (IA) of Brgy. Malayugan, Mr. Oliver B. Duque, and Laga-Sta. Maria IA of Brgy. Sta. Maria, Mr. Petronilo Cortez, on August 26, 2022.

After a weeklong training-workshop, the NIA Modernization Team from NIA-Central Office and CAR Regional Office takes photo opportunity at the NIA-CAR Regional Office.

Study on the feasibility of national irrigation system (NIS) modernization program has started in the Cordillera Region.

This developed after the conduct of training workshop for the NIA-CAR personnel from Abra, Ifugao, Kalinga and Apayao who will embark on the feasibility study. The modernization team from the NIA Central Office conducted the technical assistance through on-site field validations, discussions with irrigators’ associations and other stakeholders as well as lectures and presentations from August 31 to September 7, 2022.
