TABUK CITY, KALINGA – The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), in partnership with the National Irrigation Administration (NIA) and the Irrigators' Associations (IA), launched the Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers (TUPAD) for the Irrigators' Associations in the region during the 10th General Assembly of the CAR Federation of Irrigators' Associations (CARFIA) held at Davidson Hotel in Brgy. Bulanao of this municipality on August 10, 2023.

A strengthened collaboration among the DOLE, NIA and the IAs was formed through the signing of a covenant in support of the TUPAD towards effective and efficient irrigation service.

Members of the IAs will mainly be engaged in TUPAD through the clearing and maintenance activities of the irrigation systems.

The LGU-Quezon, Isabela represented by Mayor Jimmy Gamazon, Jr. signs the deed of donation of the parcel of land where UCRIS-Quezon, Isabela is located which officially transfers ownership to NIA represented by NIA-CAR Regional Manager Benito Espique, Jr. Members of the Sanguniang Bayan, Irrigators’ Association members and other NIA officials served as witnesses during the ceremonial signing at the LGU-Quezon Municipal Hall on July 14, 2023.

About 800 fruit and forest tree seedlings were planted by NIA-Kalinga Irrigation Management Office employees in San Julian, Tabuk City, Kalinga during the nationwide synchronized tree planting on June 30, 2023. Meanwhile, 700 seedlings were also planted by KIMO employees together with Irrigators’ Associations, and the PNP in Brgy. Lepanto, Quezon, Isabela. Bothe sites were part of the Upper Chico River Irrigation System (UCRIS), the largest irrigation system in CAR.

More than 3,000 tree seedlings were planted by employees of the National Irrigation Administration (NIA) in the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) during the agency’s nationwide synchronized tree planting on June 30, 2023.
