Irrigators’ groups sign marketing agreement with business owner

FLORA, APAYAO - Irrigators' Associations (IA) of this municipality signed Marketing Agreement with a business establishment that will procure their farm produce on a regular basis.

The Aguda Fruits, Vegetables and Grains Trading of Brgy. Poblacion East through its Owner-Proprietress, Ms. Glen Joyce Mislang, signed the agreement with the presidents of  Malayugan Rice Granary Farmers Irrigators Association (IA) of Brgy. Malayugan, Mr. Oliver B. Duque, and Laga-Sta. Maria IA of Brgy. Sta. Maria, Mr. Petronilo Cortez, on August 26, 2022.

The same establishment signed the agreement with the Northern Malubibit Farmers IA of Brgy. Malubibit Norte represented by its president, Mr. Dennis Dumaoal, on September 1, 2022. Engr. Samuel Bahiwag, Apayao Irrigation Management Office (IMO) Manager, together with other officers of the IAs served as witnesses.

The agreement provides that the IAs will produce the required volume of palay/corn ordered for procurement by Aguda Fruits, Vegetables, and Grains Trading.

The agreement is in line with the program Enhanced Partnership Against Hunger and Poverty (EPAHP) of the national government with the goal to mitigate hunger, ensure food and nutrition security, and reduce poverty in the urban and rural communities.

NIA, as one of the supporting agencies, assists irrigators' associations (IAs) and link them to other partner agencies or organizations as direct suppliers, for credit or other related support services.
