Mr. Jay Tulfo, one of the farmer-beneficiaries of Demet Communal Irrigation System in La Paz, Abra, proudly shows the efficient and abundant flow of water in the irrigation canal after the completion of concrete canal lining.

La Paz, Abra—Rice farms in Brgy. Poblacion now have more efficient and increase in the flow of irrigation water after the repair of the Demet Communal Irrigation System in this town.

This was according to Mr. Leo Siganay, one of the 45 farmer-beneficiaries who are now tilling 106 hectares service area of Demet CIS.

Declared as a UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization) World Heritage Site in 1995, the Nagacadan Rice Terraces in Nagacadan, Kiangan, Ifugao is being irrigated by an irrigation project of the National Irrigation Administration (NIA).

The Aliguyon Communal Irrigation System (CIS) located in Kiangan, Ifugao, recently underwent repair works funded under the RRECIS (Restoration, Rehabilitation and Repair of Existing Communal Irrigation Systems) which was completed in September 2018.

The irrigation system has 20 hectares service area which is a portion of the Nagacadan Rice Terraces.

The Aliguyon CIS lined canal stretches to 72 meters and 1.5 kilometers of unlined canal.
